Children and keen bakers from the Filipino community raised £130 towards the Philippines relief effort at a recent family film and cake sale event at Redbourn Parish Centre.
The event, which followed a very successful Redbourn fundraiser last Christmas, was the first fundraiser for St Albans Philippines group (STAP) the newly formed St Albans charity raising funds to rebuild St Joseph's school in a remote area of the Philippines badly affected by typhoon Haiyan.
The money raised will all go to the Philippines relief effort, shared between DEC and STAPH.
STAPH is being supported by St Albans' former MP and current Labour candidate Kerry Pollard.
He said: "This event was a great example of two communities and all age groups working together, and I'm sure marks the start of a successful fundraising and awareness campaign for STAPH."
