Fans were ejected from the derby between Hemel Hempstead Town and St Albans City due to anti-social behaviour.

In a record crowd for the local derby, promotion chasing St Albans and Hemel Hempstead, who are top of the division, played out a 0-0 draw.

One St Albans City supporter, who asked not to be named, said: “It all kicked off at half time. There were punches being thrown everywhere; the police were called for back-up”.

Giles Cooper, from Hertfordshire Police, said the officers at the match were unaware of any assaults and thought the match was “good-natured.”

He said: “They weren’t aware of any assaults going on, but obviously, if anything did come to light, it would be investigated, but we haven’t had any allegations reported to us as of yet.”

An absolute fabrication, i hope a retraction and an apology to HHTFC is forthcoming especially as our main sponsors happen to be a leading firm of solicitors.

Thankfully this article has now been amended. Word of advice, Michael. Rumour and gossip should never be used to form the basis of a story. It's worth finding out the the facts first.

So Michael, are you going to add an apology, many people would have seen this article before you edited it without an explanation why.
