Thousands raised by supermarket charity book sales
A Harpenden supermarket has raised thousands of pounds for a charity dedicated to supporting people with cerebral palsy.
Staff from Sainsbury’s in the High Street sold second hand books for the last year to raise £4,100 for Starscope.
Customer’s donated old books and also brought new ones.
Jan Shepheard, secretary for Starscope said: "We are delighted to receive such a large cheque.
"We would really like to thank the staff and customers is helping to raise this money, which will be used to help disabled families in the area."
Starscope provides grants to individuals who require specialised pieces of equipment to enhance their daily living. These range from tricycles, bath aids and garden swings, all of which are specially adapted for their needs.
