A main road in St Albans has reopened, following its closure after a man collapsed.

St Peters Street was closed in both directions after emergency services were called to a man who had taken ill at 3.11pm this afternoon.

The Essex Air Ambulance, a land ambulance and a response car were sent to the scene.

The patient was taken to Watford General Hospital by land for further care.

The road has now reopened.
