Thousands of pounds has been raised for a St Albans charity during a Gospel Festival.

Bazil Meade Gospel Music Academy students have celebrated the success of their inaugural performance at The St Albans Gospel Festival raising £2,259 The Living Room.

The choir was trained by Rev. Bazil Meade, one of the UK’s leading Gospel Musicians and Founding Director of the London Community Gospel Choir.

The Mayor of St Albans, Annie Brewster, who recently featured as one of the choir members hosted a reception where Janis Feely MBE, Chief Executive of the Living Room expressed her appreciation and delight at receiving the proceeds from the St Albans Gospel Festival event.

The city’s Mayor said: "This was truly one of the highlights of my year"

This year's St Albans Gospel Festival acted as the platform for launch of the Bazil Meade Gospel Music Academy, which featured more than 40 students.

Lionel Wallace, Festival Director said. "The power of Gospel Music was evident on the night and everyone had so much fun in the process, we are looking forward to more events and are encouraging others to get on board"
