The sound of bagpipes are growing louder and louder as the Harpenden Highland Gathering draws closer.

The Scottish themed family fun day, organised by Harpenden Lions, will take place on Sunday, July 13 from 10am to 5pm.

Five Pipe Bands will participate and there will also be Solo Piping and Highland Dancing competitions as well as Highland Games Heavy Events and arena entertainment. There will also be a Dog & Duck Display, falconry demonstrations and entertainment from John Evans, a legendary head balancing strongman.

Children’s attractions including a fun fair, karts and a climbing wall as well as a children’s sports competition are also on offer as well as an array of stalls.

Proceeds made on the day will go to Arthritis Care, Carers in Hertfordshire and the Lions Life Skills Programme in local schools.

Entrance will cost £3 for adults purchasing a half price programme or £6 on the gate. Programmes will be on sale from early June at several shops including WH Smith in Harpenden. Children under 16, accompanied by an adult, enter free of charge.
