Bagpipes will soon be ringing out across Harpenden as the town's annual Harpenden Highland Gathering gets underway.
Harpenden Highland Gathering, organised by the Harpenden Lions, will take place in Rothamsted Park tomorrow from 10am to 5pm.
Entertainment includes five Pipe Bands, a Solo Piping and Highland Dancing competitions as well as Highland Games Heavy Events and arena entertainment. There will also be a Dog & Duck Display, falconry demonstrations and entertainment from John Evans, a legendary head balancing strongman.
Children’s attractions including a fun fair, karts and a climbing wall as well as a children’s sports competition are also on offer as well as an array of stalls.
Proceeds will go to Arthritis Care, Carers in Hertfordshire and the Lions Life Skills Programme in local schools.
Entrance will cost £3 for adults purchasing a half price programme or £6 on the gate. Programmes will be on sale from early June at several shops including WH Smith in Harpenden. Children under 16, accompanied by an adult, enter free of charge.
