A charity day held in memory of the mother of the assistant professional at Harpenden Common Golf Club has raised £5,500 for Keech Hospice and is now set to become an annual event.
The golf day was organised as a tribute to Keri Emerton who died at Keech Hospice, Luton, in March 2013 aged just 38.
Josh Emerton, who has been assistant professional at the club for almost three years, wanted to find a way of helping the hospice in gratitude for the care his mother was given during the last days of her life.
He said: "The hospice was amazing - not only in the tremendous depth of nursing care but also in the sensitive way our family were looked after through this really difficult time."
The idea of a charity golf day emerged after Josh spoke to Club Captain Tony Burgess and General Manager Terry Crump.
The charity event was held on Friday, June 27, which would have been Keri's 39th birthday.
More than 90 golfers teed off in the event which was eventually won by club members Arthur and Gill Taverner.
