St Albans Ladies earned a 43-35 victory over North Mymms in the St Albans & District Ladies’ Bowling Association double rink competition.

Playing away, the team went down 23-19 but the home side won 24-12 to seal success overall. St Albans will play Potters Bar in the next round on July 28.

Eileen Englebright and Diana Tribe defeated Linda Newby and Linda Brooks of Harpenden 23-16 in the first round of the district singles.

The ladies won 38-29 against Garston in their midweek match with Pauline Gardiner, Englebright and Tricia Gascoine the top rink (21-10).

St Albans men lost 82-67 to Townsend in their midweek triples game. The top rink for St Albans was Alan Turner, Tony Morris and Tony Rylands (15-9).

The ladies picked up a 51-16 victory over Harpenden in the triples league. The home team won 15-9 while the away side featuring Gardiner, Sybil Steers and Jacy Farrer won 36-7.

Townsend defeated St Albans 35-31 in the quarter-finals of the Jones Cup. The home team of Andy Kay, Crawford Turner, Phil Macarthur and Keith Titmus won 19-12 but the away side lost 23-12.

Hatfield were the winners of the St Albans & District Ladies Bowling Association Benevolent Triples Gala which was hosted by St Albans.
