Hatfield Bowls Club’s John and Roy Banks reached the final of the St Albans and district pairs after beating Mick Andrews and Dave Neil of Harperbury in a hard-fought game.

John Bell also progressed to the final of the St Albans and District Officers’ Singles with a victory over Malcolm Alcock of Rowley Lane BC.

But Hatfield partners Kevin Hull and Malcolm Ingram could not repeat the feat – losing a Bob Vise semi-final tie against Harpenden.

The club travelled to Harperbury for a mixed match which resulted in a draw and were at home on Saturday in a friendly win against Royston.

The Hatfield Ladies also played a midweek friendly game against De Havilland which resulted in a draw.

Friday morning saw two Hatfield pairs face off against each other in a closely-fought semi-final – with Jackie Bell and Mary Banks clinching the win on the last end against Marilyn Hedger and Peggy Pike.

In the Australian Pairs, Barbara Albrecht and Mary Banks beat a team from Rowley Lane while Banks also defeated Alison Hall in the singles.

The Ladies also played their final game in the District Triples League against Harpenden, winning the home rink by 15 shots and just losing by one shot away to maintain their unbeaten record and put them through to the final.
