Kilbane

Published in the St Albans & Harpenden Review on 5 December 08

KILBANE, Stephen Tribute to Stephen Kilbane who died recently. One of Steve's many qualities was his ability to connect with all sorts of different people, he was always a people person - never short of a story or two, who enjoyed being at the heart of the family and was the one we turned to with all manner of problems. He worked extremely hard ensuring the family business remained successful and was an astute businessman always ready to offer help and advice to anyone who asked. Never forgetting his roots he loved to visit Achill whenever he got the chance. He was a keen and accomplished sportsman with football, golf, skiing, swimming, snooker and basketball among the many sports he enjoyed, winning numerous trophies along the way. He had a zest for life, which was infectious and a wonderful sense of humour, which was backed up by a sharp wit. There were never enough hours in the day for Steve. He was always running late, telling you he was on his way, even when he still had to shower and change. He packed a lot of living into his 34 years. Throughout his battle he never complained and he remained positive to the day he died, and even on that day was worried how others were feeling. He will live on in our hearts and memories as a kind and generous person who lit up our lives and he will be sadly and forever missed by his wife Rosaria, parents John and Sally; sister Sharon, brothers John and Paul; his extended family and many friends. The wife, parents, sister and brothers of the late Stephen Kilbane would also like to thank all those who attended his removal and funeral; and all those who sent cards and messages. We would especially like to thank the managers and players from Queens Head Sandridge football club for arranging a minutes silence before their game and to those who travelled long distances to take part. All were a great comfort at this difficult time.
