A new science fiction novel has been released which parallels genetic modification and GM produce with happenings in the Bible.

Gene Pool: Creation seeks to take you on an exciting exploration into geo-engineering, genetic engineering and space travel all in one fantastic story, with parallels to events within the Book of Genesis and in Revelations in the New Testament.

In the story the Gathering of Doctors believe the gene pool has become dangerously restricted and variation must be reintroduced to save the planet but the Senate has never seen eye to eye with the Doctors and bans them from implementing their ideas.

Consequently the doctors choose to secretly geo-engineer a planet to save the existing species from extinction.

On reaching the newly created planet, the doctors discover an animal with a close genetic match to themselves and proceed with their programme to create a new hybrid. Everything appears to be going to plan until some of the ship's crew succumb to temptation and visit the planet surface.

Horrifying events proceed to unfold and the doctors are faced with a race against time to save the planet and its species before the military destroy everything.

Author Mich R F Jones, from St Albans, says: “This is a light weight, thought provoking, science fiction story. The ill-informed and general resistance to GM produce, genetic editing and genetic engineering inspired the development of this plot.

“Me and my wife happened to be talking about the book of Genesis and the outlandish things in it -we are not particularly religious. This started me thinking of alternative explanations so…in my book absolutely everything is a parallel to some of the events in Genesis and in Revelations. Although some events are parallel it is not a religious book.”

The book is published by Austin Macauley.
