Green-fingered flower fanatics have been circling the date of the Chenies Manor Plant and Garden Fair in their calendar every year for a long, long time, but this year there is something even more exciting than the usual array of plants, flowers and garden accessories to get your tulips in a twist.

The centrepiece for this year’s fair is the newly-created wildflower meadow that runs alongside the farm entrance to the manor. Owner Elizabeth MacLeod Matthews created the quarter-acre strip meadow as a welcome for bees and to inspire fellow gardeners as part of the Chenies Manor Coffee Morning Campaign to save our bees and save the world.

The popular annual plant fair has established itself as the ultimate plant hunter’s paradise and as an attractive alternative to the mega-fairs. Once again, it offers a wide range of special plants and carefully selected garden accessories, as well as being just a jolly good day out.

“We want it to be a nice day out for all the family and have made sure there are plenty of places for people to relax, take refreshments and enjoy their visit to Chenies Manor and garden, as well as the plant fair,“ says Elizabeth.

Helen Yemm, the popular gardening columnist, will be back, and newcomers include Essex Carnivorous Plants; Palms-Exotic from Southampton, with palm trees, banana trees, gingers, bamboo and grasses; and Garden Bargains from Kent, with antique garden furniture and accessories.
