A TALENTED pianist is hoping to raise money - and a smile - for a charity which helps children around the world.

Combining classical piano pieces with stand-up comedy, Alex Ainley will host an evening of music and laughter in aid of Elizabeth's Legacy of Hope.

Twin sisters Sarah Hope, from Harpenden, and Victoria Bacon were moved to establish the charity following a tragic bus incident which killed their mother and injured Sarah's daughter Pollyanna, causing her to have her leg amputated.

Their charity now provides support to child amputees in developing countries, offering them medical support and helping them to walk again.

Isabelle Trick, who manages Elizabeth's Legacy of Hope, says: “I can’t wait to hear Alex play again. Alex plays the piano masterfully and his humour is wonderful.

"Not many people have experienced a mash up of classical music and stand-up comedy before – they are missing out."

Alex will play a number of classic piano pieces, including Chopin's Prelude No 16 and Ondine by Ravel.

He will later be joined on stage by three talented jazz musicians for a selection of tunes by all-time great jazz and swing musicians Quincy Jones, Billy May and Art Tatum.
