Hertfordshire Chorus is with the band

Conductor David Temple Conductor David Temple

Pop stardom beckons for the Hertfordshire Chorus as the accomplished group and its dynamic conductor David Temple form part of the entourage for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on their UK and Ireland arena tour, starting this month.

David previously worked on choral tracks on Noel Gallagher’s new Number One solo album and has collaborated with both Noel and Oasis in the past. He says: “Hertfordshire Chorus is one of the UK’s best choirs and so it is a huge honour to be invited to take part in this epic tour. The people of Newcastle in particular will not know what has hit them as we will be singing with Noel Gallagher in February and then return in May to sing Mozart. Musical diversity at its best.“

This exciting opportunity will catapult the chorus into a world of stadium gigs, broadening still further their range of music and engagements. As well as its own concerts, the chorus has sung with the Coldstream Guards on their chart-topping Pride of the Nation CD, appeared with Kylie Minogue on The One Show, and with the BBC Concert Orchestra in the Queen Elizabeth Hall in January, which will be broadcast on Radio 3 later in the year.

With so many pressing engagements, the ensemble is always keen to recruit new singers. All sessions start at 7.30pm at Marlborough School, Watling Street, St Albans on Wednesday, February 8 and Monk’s Walk School, Knightsfield, Welwyn Garden City on Wednesday, February 15.

Lastly, before they pack their bags and board the tour bus, Hertfordshire Chorus’ next concert is at St Albans Abbey on Saturday, February 4 at 7.30pm with a programme including works by Durufle, Allegri, Kodaly and Gabrieli.
