Acts on trapeze, aerial silks and aerial hoop was performed last week by a group hoping to move on to bigger and better things.

St Albans Trapeze and Aerial Arts successfully performed 2017: A Space Odyssey over two nights to an audience of over 170 people at the Yoga Hall on Hatfield Road, where they also teach the skills.

The show explored themes of venturing into outer space, with a soundtrack featuring the likes of David Bowie, Lou Reed and Holst interspersed with the original soundbites of Neil Armstrong's 1969 mission.

The group raised over £1,800, which they hope to use to purchase more equipment, run more lessons and hopefully move into an additional venue in St Albans.

Aerial performer and teacher Ali Walker said: "We'd like to thank everyone who came along to the show. I and Kate - the creative director - are really pleased with everyone who took part in the show - it was a lot of hard work which really paid off."

St Albans Trapeze and Aerial Arts currently offers beginners and intermediate level lessons on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. More information: stalbanstrapeze.co.uk
