Bugsy Malone comes to Harpenden

Harpenden Young Hearts, presents its production of Bugsy Malone as part of the annual St Albans Festival, next week.

In 1976 Bugsy Malone the musical was released as a movie, and it was the director’s son who suggested a film featuring a cast of only children. The screenplay was then adapted into a stage show, which has been delighting audiences for more than 25 years.

The Young Hearts’ cast ranges in age from eight to 17, with the title role being played at alternate performances by Philip Coxon (aged ten) and David Pink (aged 11). You are sure to recognise the songs and the script will have you laughing even before the splurge gun mayhem ensues.

Bugsy Malone is at the Harpenden Public Halls on Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3 at 7pm, and on Saturday, July 4 at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets (£6 adults, £4 children, concessions available) from the Harpenden Public Halls box office on 01582 767525, from the festival box office on 01727 844488, or online at www.leisureinstalbans.co.uk

Harpenden Young Hearts is the resident youth theatre group at Harpenden Public Halls. It meets each week during term time on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for performance-based tuition in acting and musical theatre (term fees apply). For more information, email katie@hertstheatre.com
