5:32pm Friday 20th January 2012 in Theatre News By Rosy Moorhead
In Chinese tradition, each year is dedicated to one of 12 specific animals, each of which is said to bestow its unique characteristics on people born in that year. 2012 is The Year of the Dragon, which is all about drama, energy, vitality and excitement.
In the true spirit of the dragon, the Watford Palace Theatre is hosting the Chinese New Year Roadshow, featuring professional dancers and musicians in a variety of dazzling performances, including Chinese martial arts, folk dance (including the much-loved lion dance) and musical instruments.
The performers will also be leading a dragon-crafting workshop before the show, and dance and martial arts workshops afterwards.
Chinese New Year Roadshow is at Watford Palace Theatre, Clarendon Road, Watford on Saturday, January 21 at 11.30am. Details: 01923 235455, www.watfordpalacetheatre.co.uk
