Street dance meets with mysticism in Mahlon Prince’s latest play, Dragon’s Creed – which takes the audience through forests, caves and castles in a classic saga of heroes and dragons.
“In the story, someone promises to slay a dragon and has to live with the consequences,” says Mahlon, though he is careful not to give too much away about his latest fantasy creation.
"Promises are important in this world; that you stay true to your word."
What Mahlon will tell me is the play is part of a six-part series Age Of Promise, told in two trilogies and set in unknown lands.
The choreography is by Omar Paloma, artistic director of idance, and includes breakdancing and battle scenes. Rhythmic African drumming provides the soundtrack and apparently gives a clue to help solve the mystery.
The performance takes place tonight, Friday at Watford Palace Theatre, Clarendon Road, Watford at 7.45pm. Details: 01923 225671
