Today saw the opening of the Arsenal Store in St Albans' Maltings Shopping Centre.

Arsenal Football Club decided to open the store today to coincide with the Club's home kit launch for the 2008/09 season.

The store features a wide range of Arsenal merchandise, selling popular Gunners products including leisure-wear, mugs, club books and DVDs across 1,285 square feet.

Adrian Ford, Arsenal's commercial director said of the new store: "We have thousands of recognised supporters in the St Albans area, and it is a huge step forward for us to make official club merchandise available through a local store.

The new St Albans site will partner up with Arsenal's existing shops at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal World of Sport, located at Finsbury Park and overseas sites in Bangkok and Phuket, Thailand.

Adrian added: "We look forward to seeing people there on launch day and hope it will be a great success."

The Arsenal Store, St Albans will be open Monday to Saturday 9.30am - 5.30pm and Sundays 11am -5pm. It is located at Unit 31, The Maltings Shopping Centre, St Albans.

What splendid news. I am so glad that so many fellow residents are supporters too of this fine football team.

Well if that is the mentality of some Spurs fans that would be quite sad.

I went in yesterday and picked up my shirt and got a signed photo of Rosicky!

David, that is not the mentality of some Spurs fans at all, purely what an anonymous poster thinks. However I do remember sitting in a bar near White Hart Lane after our semi-final victory last year when a brick was thrown threw the window narrowly missing a man. As you said, quite sad.

Spurs fan, I did say 'if' and 'would', I wasn't agreeing with anon.

While I do appreciate a bit of banter between rival team fans there are those, from all teams, that take it too far.

I don't suppose I'll be seeing you in the new shop then?

Ha, ha. No chance, I would need some kind of specially made suit to protect me from the contaminated air! In fairness though, putting my club alliance to the side, it can only be good for the city. More shoppers - albeit Gooners! - the better. If someone pops in for a home kit and then buys a coffee, a load of bread and few other bits and pieces, its all good for St Albans!

The baby in the photo is beautiful. She looks so cute in her Arsenal kit but then I suppose I am bias as that's my gorgeous and now famous little niece!!!!

As for the comments about Tottenham fans I personally hope they stay well away and don't cause trouble as it would be extremely shameful to their club. However, I suppose they are Spurs fans so they must be use to shame (sorry couldn't help myself)!!!!

Where is St Albans again?

Hi Bob (AKA Chris) it is ok. I know how challenging finding places can be but I thought it was common knowledge that using a map will help with such a question as yours. if you enter it into Google this will help you. Please got to www.google.com. I hope this has helped and perhaps you would like to stick to the subjest of future conversations.

Regards.

Thanks Cazz much appreciated; although Google didn't know where it is either. I don't believe that exposing small children to rubbish football teams is very appropriate.

Strange.. Google seemed to work for me. Maybe you are struggling to use it correctly. It really is quite simple though..!

I would like to question why you feel exposing a child to football is inappropriate..? I personally see nothing wrong with introducing a child the dedication and commitment of Arsenal. Surely it can only be perceived as good thing to show a child the greatness that comes from being a true team player. I think that we should introduce more of our children to sports at a young age; maybe this would enable us, as a country, to develop some great sportsmen/women.

I personally agree with Carolyn here. We should get more children into sports.

Fantastic news about the shop!

You're obviously more advanced than I am at using the web. Must be all that free time you have whilst at work. Shame the forecasts aren't up to much.

Anyway - yeah - an exposure to football is an excellent thing. Especially if Arsenal ever start playing it properly.

Carolyn, Arsenal Football Club could hardly be seen as an inspiration for this country to develop some great sportsmen - just look at the make-up of its first team.

I wonder if Adebeyor will be for sale in there?
