St Albans School triumphed over young engineers from regional schools during a robot-wars style event.

The games, which consisted of two-a-side football, an assault course and sumo battle saw more than 20 robots designed by children aged 12 to 17, square off their creations on two purpose built arenas.

Expert engineers were on hand to assist the teams, troubleshooting and repairing their robots before and after each event during Bedfordshire Rampaging Chariots.

Berkhamstead School was also rewarded at the event for its innovatively designed four-wheel Drive Robot Berko, with St Albans School winning the Sumo event and finishing second in the assault course and two-a-side football.
