A former mayor of St Albans has presented her chosen charities with the money she raised for them during her year in office.
Councillor Aislinn Lee raised £26,000 for Sure Start and the St Albans and Hertsmere Women’s Refuge during her mayoral year.
Councillor Lee said: "I feel overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of St Albans’ city and district who have helped raise so much money for these worthwhile causes.
"These charities are doing a wonderful job and I know this money will make a real difference to the lives of the people with whom they work."
The former mayor presented the two charities with cheques on Friday, November 2.
Sure Start provides a range of community services to families in the district with children under five years old.
The women’s refuse supports women and children suffering domestic abuse by offering them safe places to stay.
