Park Street Residents’ Association has put forward a candidate for Thursday’s by-election.
Nicholas Tyndale, a communications director at University College London, will stand on behalf of the group.
The 46-year-old, who grew up in Canada, moved to Park Street with his wife five years ago.
He said: "Moving here was one of the best decisions we made.
"I want to ensure that Park Street can continue to provide the lifestyle and facilities that we have come to enjoy so much."
Mr Tyndale has a number of concerns that he hopes to address if elected.
One of these is the use of Green Belt land for development.
He said: "I want to do what I can to protect the Green Belt and more generally to prevent developments that threaten the very special area that we have."
