Park Street parish by election - David Parry, Lib Dem
David Parry, a manager at an architectural practice, is the Liberal Democrat candidate for the election.
The 55-year-old hopes that if he is elected he can bridge the gap between the parish council and voters.
He said: "There is a feeling at times that residents are not sure what the council do. "They do not feel connected to it.
"I think the parish council could be a little bit more active with its relationship with its elective."
Mr Parry’s family has lived in Park Street for the past 80 years.
He said: "I have been actively involved in the area all my life.
"I’m pleased to see that a parish by-election had got four candidates."
One of his main involvements in parish life has been his work campaigning against the proposed rail freight depot.
Talking about Thursday’s result, Mr Parry added: "I think it is going to be close but I think I am in with a chance."
