Doves will be released from St Albans Cathedral as part of a remembrance service next week.

The St Albans and District Bereavement Network and the cathedral’s Ecumenical Chaplaincy is organising the event on Sunday, November 25.

This is the fifth time the service will be run to allow residents to remember and celebrate the lives of family and friends who have passed away.

The sub dean of St Albans Cathedral, Canon Richard Watson, will conduct the service.

He said: "It’s a huge privilege for the cathedral to welcome so many people to this service each year.

"The opportunity to gather together offers a unique support and is in itself an expression of hope and thanksgiving. All are very welcome."

St Albans Abbey Girls Choir will lead the singing during the service. The dove release will take place at 2.30pm from the cathedral’s west doors and the service will begin at 3pm.

Michael Elves, chairman of the St Albans Bereavement Network said: "This special occasion is open to all who are bereaved.

"We do hope it will be a meaningful and welcoming occasion for everyone."
