St Albans to be sprinkled with fairy dust in outside Disney trails for youngsters

St Albans is to be sprinkled with fairy dust leading up to Christmas with an outdoor adventure walk for youngsters.
 

Angellica Bell, TV presenter and new mum, visited Heartwood Forest at the weekend to launch The Disney Fairies Guide to Winter to encourage children between the ages of 6 and 9-years-old to explore outdoors nature.

Disney Fairy guides, which will encourage youngsters to discover winter wonderlands on their doorsteps, has been organised by The Woodland Trust to ensure the guide is jam-packed with things to do.
 

Janette Wickens from the Woodland Trust, said: “When people think of spending time outside, they often only think of the warmer months, but nature has a lot to offer over the winter.
 

“While some trees shed their leaves, others are busy growing berries to attract the birds that have migrated south for the winter. The guide includes lots of information on the wildlife, plants and even flowers you can find in the wintertime.”
 

Last year Angellica returned from on an expedition to the Arctic Circle, where she said she learnt to appreciate the winter months.
 

She said: “ Winter really is a beautiful season, a time when trees and plants glisten and you see animals you don’t spot at other times of the year.
 

“I loved my trip to the Arctic Circle and although it was cold and a challenge it was also one of the best experiences of my life.

"It made me appreciate the beauty of winter and I’m passionate about getting others to discover what really is a magical season.”
