A London Olympics finance executive and a worker at the British Library were among the St Albans and Harpenden residents to be recognised in the New Years Honours list.
David Goldstone, from St Albans, was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his work as Finance and Programme Director for this summer’s games.
Edmund King, also from St Albans, was made a member of the Order of the British Empire for his work at the British Library as head of Newspaper Collection.
Others on list of those to be honoured from St Albans were Mervyn Richards, for services to Building Information and Yvonne Carson, a secretary in the House of Commons, who were both made OBEs.
Harpenden had two other residents on the list with Richard Rowlandson being recognised for philanthropy and services to charity and Deborah Fensome for services to the community.
