Children and teenagers will have the opportunity to improve their football skills at training sessions across St Albans.

The Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust is working in partnership with the district council to offer professional coaching to children aged between eight and 16 for just £1.

The Onside Project, which is now in its fifth year, will begin on Monday, January 13 and will run for the whole school year.

Alex Kaufman, football and education project officer at the trust, said: "The sessions are successful because they provide a variety of age appropriate football activities, in excellent locations around St Albans, providing a good role model for the youngsters.

"All the children receive qualified coaching from the trust’s staff in a fun and friendly atmosphere. The children really enjoy it."

Sessions will run in Harpenden, Wheathampstead, Batchwood and Sopwell.

Youngsters wishing to take part in the sessions can turn up on the day and pay a £1 fee.
