M1 closed in both directions following car crash

Part of the M1 is closed in both directions following a car crash.
The air ambulance has been called to the scene between Junction 6A and Junction 7 southbound.
Police have also closed the northbound carriage to allow the helicopter to land.
The accident, which involved a silver Citroen Saxo and a silver Vauxhall Zafira, happened at about 1.15pm.
It is believed that one person is trapped in a car.
Emergency services remain at the scene and all lanes of the motorway will remain closed until further notice.
