A young boy and two women have been taken to hospital following a crash on the M1 this afternoon.
One of the women, who had to be cut out of her car by firefighters, was left with injuries to her abdomen, chest and pelvis.
The other woman sustained leg injuries and the young boy who was travelling with her had minor injuries.
Gary Sanderson, a spokesman from the East of England Ambulance Service, said: "Our crews worked very closely with the London Helicopter Emergency Medical Service team and the Herts Fire & Rescue Service to treat, stabilise and immobilise the casualties prior to them all being conveyed to hospital."
The two cars crashed between Junction 6A and Junction 7 at about 1.15pm.
All lanes have been reopened.
