- The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning and the public are advised to take extra care.
- Accumulations of more than 5-10cm of snow will occur quite widely, with 15cm in some parts of the Amber area, falling within 3-6 hours.
- The public are advised to avoid all non-essential journeys and be prepared for disruption, including altering travel plans.
- Nicolas Breakspear Catholic School closed due to a gas leak discovered last night. The school hopes to open as normal on Monday.
- Reports of an accident on the A414 between London Colney and Park Street.

The Met Office is warning of more snow in the St Albans area over the weekend.
The agency is predicting light snowfall tomorrow and has issued an ice warning for drivers with the temperature to stay at around -1°C.
More light snow is forecast for Sunday afternoon when the temperature is expected to drop slightly until -2°C.

West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust has said all services are running as normal at St Albans City Hospital.
No patient appointments have been cancelled but the hospital is advising people to give themselves extra travel time if they do have an appointment today.
The trust will be reviewing the situation throughout the day as the snow continues to fall.

Nicolas Breakspear Catholic School was closed today due to a gas leak found last night.
In a statement released today the school, in Colney Heath Lane, said the problem was being worked on today and it hoped to open as normal on Monday.
However Sixth Formers were allowed into the building today to take exams, which were held a safe distance from the leak.
Year 11 and 9 exams scheduled for today have been rescheduled for next week.

Sir John Lawes school, Harpenden is now closing for the day. Parents should wait for a call from their child seeking permission to go home. Students taking public exams should remain in school. The exams will go ahead as planned, as they cannot be rescheduled. Students who are unable to go home will be supervised until 3.30. All extra curricular activities have been cancelled.

Loreto College, St Albans
School will close early today. The pupils be told to phone their parents from 10.00am. As soon as they have made contact with parents, regarding the necessary arrangements, they will be allowed to leave.
