Man killed by train in Harpenden Man killed by train in Harpenden

A 59-year-old man from St Albans was killed after being hit by a train in Harpenden yesterday (Monday).

The British Transport Police and Hertfordshire Constabulary were called to Harpenden train station at about 3.20pm.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s family have been informed.

The train had been travelling from Corby to London St Pancras.

It's a tragedy that someone feels so self destructive...but I wish these selfish idiots wouldn't involve the rest of the world...the poor train driver, the emergency services (who had to pick up the bits ) and hundreds of stranded passengers just trying to get home. And it's outrageous that the selfish act of a singe person is allowed to cause so much disruption, for such a long period of time.

This man was someone's son, someone's brother, someone's friend. Have a little compassion.

This old version of the story should really be removed now. We know who the victim was, from further updates; whether or not it was a suicide, the first comment was insensitive enough to those involved, to not warrant further reading.
