Residents will have the opportunity to show off their flipping skills at the annual St Albans pancake race next month.

The district council, which run the event, are looking for teams to take part in this year’s races.

A Pancake Race and a Flippin’ Walkers Race will take place on Tuesday, February 12 from midday.

Fancy dress is encouraged at the free event, and pancakes and frying pans will be provided.

Winning teams will be presented with a trophy after the race.

Councillor Beric Read, portfolio holder for community engagement and localism at the council, said: "The St Albans Pancake Race is a very popular annual event and a fantastic excuse to step out of the office for some sporting fun.

"Where else can you win a fabulous frying pan trophy during your lunch break?"

To enter your team in the race fill out a registration form at www.stalbans.gov.uk/pancakerace before Monday, February 4.
