Man dies after wall collapse in Mile House Lane, St Albans

A young man died yesterday after a wall collapsed on top of him.

The 26-year-old from Welwyn Garden City passed away outside a house in Mile House Lane just before 2.10pm.

Emergency services, including the Herts Air Ambulance, were called to the house.

However despite their efforts the man passed away at the scene.

Gary Sanderson, from the East of England Ambulance Service, said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with the man’s family at this tragic time.

"Following a rapid scene assessment by our paramedics, the man was pronounced dead shortly after.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is currently investigating the accident with assistance from the health and safety executive.

Police officers remained at the scene for about three hours.
