Redbourn beavers are gearing up to break this year’s Guinness World Record by making a pasta chain over 500 metres as they vow “to see their names in print”.
Over the past few weeks the children aged between six and eight-years-old have been chaining ten metres of pasta together at a time in an attempt to break the 500m record.
Keen to break a Guinness World Record, beaver scout leader, Lesley Kinsella said they decided on an achievable challenge.
Ms Kinsella said: “It is really sweet because the children are really excited and keen to see their names in print.
“At home time when their parents arrive, we have to force them out because they don’t seem to want to leave.”
“I am really nervous because I really want the children to achieve the challenge because they have worked so hard. I have every confidence that they will and we will do everything to try and help them.
“We are aiming to go beyond the record and hopefully achieve 600 metres.”
The beavers will take their pasta chain to Redbourn Common on Saturday, February 9 at noon where Revered Will Gibson, from St Mary's church will be helping them to measure it along with a local surveyor.
A Sainsburys store in Woodhall Farm contributed the pasta to the children.
