Children had the chance to make their own African style drums at the launch of a storytelling competition in St Albans.

More than 50 people visited the Museum of St Albans in Hatfield Road yesterday (Sunday) to dream up their own adventures for an old stuffed lion that lives in the building.

Professional storyteller Tricia George told African themed tales during the afternoon, which ran between 2pm and 5pm.

Adam Ditchburn, learning and interpretation officer at the museum, said: "It was a lovely fun day. It was really good.

"Everyone seemed to really enjoy it. We had a really positive response."

Residents who want to be in with a chance of winning the competition must write an original story and submit a video of them reading it before April 7.

The winner will be invited to read their story during National Share a Story Month in May.
