Residents in Harpenden had the opportunity to discuss the future of the town at a public meeting.

The Harpenden Society held the meeting on Thursday, January 24 to talk about a range of issues including options for a cafe in Rothamsted Park and an arts education centre.

More than 70 residents attended the evening in Park Hall.

Ron Taylor, a member of the society, said that the meeting far exceeded expectations.

He said: "There was an exciting buzz in the room as people arrived. We were very surprised to see over 70 people turning up.

"Everyone was interested in the topics and participation was lively and informative."
