Students at a St Albans school raised more than £200 with a charity cake sale.

Year 9 pupils at St Albans Girls School in Sandridgebury Lane sold treats at lunchtime on Wednesday, January 30.

The teenagers organised the fundraiser in aid of Mercy Ship, a charity that provides free surgery and medical care in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Student organiser Tabby Weddell said: "The event was a huge success. We raised £202.40.

"We literally sold out of everything within just 15 minutes."
