It was flipping fun today in St Albans today as hundreds of residents turned out with their frying pans to mark Shrove Tuesday.
Teams lined up with their frying pans at the start line today in St Peters Street to take part in the annual pancake race.
Parkers Flippers, a team of employees from property consultant company Strutt and Parker in St Peters Street, reached the finish line first and were named the winners of the walking race. Among the team members, including Lenka Stancikova, Jessica Waddington and Simon Down. Ollie Worboys was recognised for the highest ever pancake flip.
Roz Dimaso, team organiser said: "This is the fourth time we have taken part in the pancake race. It is good fun, good team work and always a laugh.
"We were ecstatic to win and it is always great to sponsor the community we work in."
Oaklands College in Hatfield Road entered a staff and pupil team into the runners part of the race and their pupil team, Oaklands Wolves were named the winners. Andrew Murphy, who organised the team and ran as a team staff member said he was really proud of the Oaklands Wolves:
"It was really good to get out in the community and as a competitive team of boys, they really enjoyed it.
"The staff team were not so lucky, but I guess it’s the taking part that counts."
