A charity bridge drive organised by the Harpenden town Mayor has raised more than £900 for her nominated charities.

The Town Mayor, Councillor Nicola Linacre, held her charity bridge drive in aid of Harpenden Friends of Cancer Research UL and the Daylight club in Harpenden.

Residents at the sell out event, which took place in Park Hall, enjoyed cakes and a raffle which alone raised £266.

The Harpenden Mayor said: ‘It was lovely to see so many people in Park Hall enjoying their game of bridge and enthusiastically buying raffle tickets to support the two local charities.

"Thank you to everyone for your support and to all the businesses and individuals that donated prizes, or helped out on the day. It all helped to make it a great success."
