Feature film to be screened in cathedral for first time
A feature film is to be screened in St Albans Cathedral for the very first time this month to raise money for the cathedral’s education trust.
The recent film Great Expectations is to be the first feature film to be shown in the nave of St Albans Cathedral with an introductory talk by the film's illustrious director Mike Newell.
This will kickstart St Albans very first Film Festival which begins on March 8.
The nave of the Cathedral will be transformed for the screening and visitors can enjoy live music and a bar at the event on Thursday, February 28.
Kevin Walton, Canon Chancellor of the cathedral, said, "Mike Newell has long connections with St Albans Cathedral and is a keen supporter through the Education Trust.
We are really pleased to have a screening of Great Expectations in this very ancient and atmospheric place."
Tickets for the Great Expectations screening will cost £12 and are available from the Cathedral Bookshop, or call 01727 890217.
Profits from the screening and talk will go to the Cathedral Education Trust to support the work carried out by the Education Centre which welcomes over 16,000 children each year.
