Rail freight petition takes to the streets Rail freight petition takes to the streets

Campaigners took to the streets of St Albans to gather more signatures for the petition against a rail freight terminal in Park Street.

Members of STRiFE braved Sunday’s freezing temperatures to set up a stall in St Albans market to raise support.

Cathy Bolshaw, from the campaign group, said: "It was very very cold but it was productive.

"A lot of people came to see us.

"People said they had come into town just to see us which was very reassuring."

The petition is currently 8,281 signatures strong and campaigners are hoping to reach 10,000 by March 31.

Ms Bolshaw added: "It’s cranking up. We are getting there."
