Guests enjoy first film screening in cathedral
Hundreds of film lovers had the chance to watch the latest adaptation of a British classic at St Albans Cathedral on Thursday night.
Mike Newell’s version of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations was the first film to be screened in the cathedral.
Actors dressed up as some of the story’s best known characters to entertain the 550 guests while they were waiting for the show to begin.
Mr Newell, who is originally from St Albans, gave a short speech to introduce his movie and spoke about his family’s history in the city.
The St Albans Symphony Orchestra’s string quartet also performed during the sold out event.
