St Albans gets behind Fairtrade Fortnight St Albans gets behind Fairtrade Fortnight

Volunteers took to the streets of St Albans this weekend to raise awareness of Fairtrade products.

Visitors to the market had the chance to sample a range of Fairtrade products and learn more about the foundation from a team from the local branch of Oxfam on Saturday.

The group set up a stall outside Clarks to mark Fairtrade Fortnight, which began last weekend.

Abi Owen, manager of the Chequer Street charity shop, said: "We’re trying to make everybody in St Albans always buy Fairtrade.

"It was really well received. It went really well.

"Lots of people didn’t know it was Fairtrade Fortnight."
