Hertfordshire’s most senior firefighter is set to become the part time chief executive of the county's police in a dual role.
Roy Wilsher is being lined up to serve as Andrew White’s replacement at the police and crime commissioner's office, after Hertfordshire County Council’s employment committee approved the move.
It is understood Mr Wilsher, who currently earns more than £130,000 as the county’s director of community protection and chief fire officer, will take on the new position an equivalent of two days a week.
He is due to appear alongside police and crime commissioner David Lloyd at a Police and Crime Panel meeting on March 14 to seek approval for the appointment.
Mr Lloyd described the proposed appointment as an opportunity to "bring local partnership working together."
The introduction of a part-time replacement once Mr White leaves in April - initially on a one year secondment - is expected to save the taxpayer £100,000.
