Hundreds of people shared their opinions on the redevelopment of Oaklands College at a public meeting.

An exhibition held between Thursday, February 28 and Saturday, March 2 gave 300 residents and students the chance to have their say.

The development will see several buildings on the site redeveloped and modernised.

Principal Zoe Hancock said: "We were really pleased with the turnout at last weekend’s public consultation. It was great to be able to talk to people about what we are trying to achieve with this project - and why it is so important for both the College and the wider community.

"I’d like to thank everyone who came along and participated in the consultation, and we hope people appreciated the opportunity to find out more about these vital redevelopment plans."

The feedback will now be looked over by the college and developers and a second consultation will be held in the spring.

The trouble is that there will be a great loss of valuable green belt land, gone forever, and a massive strain on the local roads, schools and doctors etc that are already overstretched.
We are already massively over developed in St.Albans with the former Hatfield Aerospace site built on less than a mile away from this development.
It has to be stopped otherwise this valuable green lung will be lost.
