MP on rail freight campaign: 'It truly has been a David and Goliath battle'
St Albans’ MP has paid tribute to the campaigners fighting against the Park Street rail freight terminal, who today reached their 10,000 signature petition target.
Anne Main said: "STRiFE have been tireless in their campaigning to stop the ruination of our green belt by standing up to the big developer.
"It truly has been a David and Goliath battle.
"I pay tribute to their stamina and tenacity in getting 10,000 signatures and I am pleased that they are keeping this debate in the hearts of local people."
Cathy Bolshaw, co-ordinator for STRiFE, announced this morning that the group has now reached its high target after months of campaigning.
This means that the issue will be discussed further by politicians at Hertfordshire County Council.
