Man freed from car after crash in Harpenden

An elderly man had to be freed from his car by firefighters this afternoon after he crashed into a post in Harpenden.
The man, who is believed to be in his 70s, was driving along Station Road when his pedals got stuck and he came off of the road.
His beige Vauxhall Zafira crashed into a heavy goods vehicle sign outside Allders Opticians just after 3.10pm.
Firefighters from Harpenden were called to the scene to free him from the car.
Paramedics checked the man over by he was uninjured and did not need to go to hospital.
The emergency services remained at the scene until just after 4pm.
