Mayor of St Albans: Civic Ball for Centre 33 and Special Olympics St Albans 'a great success'

Religious figures, politicians and residents came together for the annual Civic Ball raising thousands of pounds for charity.

This year’s fundraiser, which was set up in aid of Centre 33 and Special Olympics St Albans, was held at Sopwell House Hotel on Friday, March 15.

In total 150 guests attended the evening celebration, which also included a silent auction, a raffle and tombola.

Councillor Eileen Harris, the mayor of St Albans, said: "The evening was a great success.

"I am grateful to everyone for their generosity in giving over £3,100 to the two charities I am supporting during my mayoral year.

"I want to thank all the organisations I have met so far in my mayoral year for everything they do for St Albans district.

"I am grateful for the warm welcome I have been given at the many events I have attended so far this year."

The dean of St Albans, the Very Reverend Jeffery John and the high sheriff of Hertfordshire Arabella Stuart-Smith also attended the event.
