The St Albans and Harpenden politicians who will be fighting for votes in next month’s Hertfordshire County Council elections have been announced.

The list of candidates for the May 2 elections reveal that seven of the current representatives are seeking another four years at county hall.

The elections will determine who controls Hertfordshire County Council, which gets 74p of every tax pound paid in the county.

The authority, which is currently run by a Conservative administration, controls key services such as schools, roads, streetlights and social services.

As well as the three main parties the Greens and the UK Independence Party will be vying for votes.
